Xunantunich pronounced "shoo-NAHN-too-nich" is an ancient Maya site located in the western district of Cayo, some 80 miles west of Belize City. Xuntanich is built on top a steep mountainous area that overlooks the Mopan River and is within close proximity to Guatemala. The name Xunantunich means "Stone Woman" in the Maya language.
Blue Hole National Park is a national park located about 12 miles southeast of Belmopan on the Hummingbird Highway, in the Cayo District. The park comprises some 575 acres of lush forests that includes "St. Hermans" and "Crystal Cave" cave systems, and a blue pool from which the name of the park is derived.
