Altun Ha is one of the most well known Maya archaeological sites in Belize. Altun Ha is located in the Belize District some 30 miles to the north of Belize City. The core area of Altun Ha contains some thirteen structures clustered within two Classic Period plazas.

The jade carving of "Kinich Ahau", the Maya sun god, which is also the largest jade sculpture ever to be discovered in the Maya world was excavated from Altun Ha.
